I have a 2005 Grand Am, V6 Se. Recently, after having sat for 3 days without being driven, it was slightly hesitant to take gas on pulling out from its parking spot. I didn't think much of it, and continued to drive home. Engine light came on. Then it got worse. Eventually, it was shuddering and emitting black smoke when I'd give it gas. At idle, it was fine and still is. If you rev it to above 2000 rpm, the tach gauge jumps all over, up and down, the car shakes, and it makes sputtering/backfiring type sounds. As a quick fix, we went with changing the plugs and wires. No change. Pulling each plug/set of coils seems to make no difference -- instead of cutting a third of the spark as expected. I bought a scanner (since it's half an hour to the nearest one, and it was cheaper than the tow bill home if things didn't go as planned). Got the following codes:
P0300 P0350 P1350
So am I just looking at replacing all three ignition coil packs? Do I need to go for the Ignition Control Module? Or the Engine Control Module? Or something entirely different?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I'm trying to do this on a budget.
