97 chevy lumina 3.1L has this code and i need to know how to clear it to get my car inspected. im a college student and cant afford to take it somewhere, ive done all my car work myself so far, but have no idea where to go with this code. an suggestions to get rid of this issue?

The P1406 code means that the EGR valve is 10% of the expected position by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), usually caused by carbon built up n the EGR valve. Start by cleaning the EGR valve.

thank you! I replaced it not too long ago, but i will try cleaning it and c how dirty it is. If its not bad what else could i try?
